Holy Spirit Knights Enjoy Guest Speaker…

The Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus held their March monthly meeting on March 5th, 2024 and enjoyed hearing from two outside speakers. A delicious meal of hamburgers, cheese burgers, baked beans, chips and dip, and a cookie for dessert gave the 40+ men the energy needed to buckle-in for two exciting presentations.

First up was a highly decorated military hero, Larry from the non-profit The Jericho Wall organization. The primary goal of The Jericho Wall is to defend and protect the unborn against abortion in South Dakota. The organization has a five-pronged approach working toward meeting their primary goal. The organization is waging war against the forces of evil by 1. Spreading the message through billboards in Sioux Falls and other key South Dakota cities, 2. Informing Catholics through mass mailing campaigns, 3. Utilizing “social media” to educate the voters of South Dakota regarding the implications of the radical abortion amendment to our state’s Constitution, 4. Facilitating a rally and bus Pilgrimage to draw the faithful together as a testament of our desire to follow God’s will in protecting all life from conception to natural death, and 5. Encouraging all to Pray the Rosary for the intention of successfully defeating the amendment. Larry quoted Padre Pio with this message, “The Rosary is our Weapon for these Times”. Our second speaker was Knight of Columbus Mr. Cole Heisey from the Knights of Columbus Insurance Field Office. Cole spent a few minutes describing the various fraternal benefits and financial products available to all member Knights. Although the The Jericho Wall talk was a tough act to follow, Cole shared the important message of ensuring our loved ones are taken care of in the long term through life insurance, and long term care products, among many other products offered by the Knights of Columbus. A huge thank-you to both our speakers who brought excitement, emotions and “food for thought” to all the Knights present.

As a bonus, the Knights were presented with a check by Council Director Jim Coburn who heads-up the annual Soap for Families Soap Drive. The Holy Spirit Knights were presented with a check to benefit the Council’s work. This check represents the portion the Council receives for hosting, sponsoring and working the related Soap Drive fund-raising activities including the silent auction and donation collections after Masses. Thanks to Jim and Brian for their leadership this year on the Soap Drive activities!
