Holy Spirit Parish is delighted to announce that it will be hosting the Silver Rose Prayer Service on June 12th at 6:30 p.m. This service, brought to our parish by our Knights of Columbus council, will take place in the main worship area of Holy Spirit Church. Everyone in the community is welcome to join this special occasion of prayer and veneration.
The Legacy of the Silver Rose
The Silver Rose has a profound narrative that began over sixty years ago as a symbol of gratitude and respect towards Our Lady of Guadalupe by the Columbian Squires, a youth group within the Knights of Columbus. What started as a singular journey of a natural rose from London to Monterrey, Mexico, has evolved into an enduring transcontinental devotion to Our Lady. This journey not only symbolizes the deep reverence for Our Lady of Guadalupe but also reflects the commitment of the Knights of Columbus to values that uphold the sanctity of life across borders.
Over the years, the physical rose transitioned from being a perishable symbol to an everlasting one made of silver, a metal that signifies purity and durability, akin to the unwavering commitment of the Knights to this cause. Today, the journey of the Silver Rose spans across North America, strengthening the bonds of international brotherhood and unity under the mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
What to Expect During the Service
The Silver Rose Prayer Service is structured into four impactful parts, designed to deepen the communal prayer experience and instill a sense of spiritual solidarity among all attendees:
- Part One: The Holy Rosary – This segment involves collective recitation of the Rosary, focusing on the Glorious Mysteries which contemplate the most significant events of Christian faith concerning the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus, and the veneration of Mary.
- Part Two: Liturgy of the Word – Participants will sit and listen to the words of the Scriptures, offering a moment of reflection and connection with the divine teachings.
- Part Three: Act of Consecration – Standing in unity, the congregation will consecrate themselves to the Blessed Virgin Mary, entrusting her with our collective cause of life and dignity.
- Part Four: Final Blessing – If led by a priest or bishop, the service will conclude with a special blessing, conferring grace and hope to all participants.
