The Knights of Columbus Soap for the Homeless Soap Drive has concluded with remarkable success, thanks to the overwhelming support from Pastorates and parishioners across Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. At its inception, the soap drive aimed to order just one or two pallets of soap, but as the years have progressed the response far exceeds our expectations. We are thrilled to announce that we were able to purchase a total of 12 pallets of soap, with half designated for residential use and the other half for commercial purposes. This incredible achievement is a testament to the generosity and commitment of our community members.
The primary purpose of the Soap Drive is to support local non-profit facilities in Sioux Falls that are in dire need of hygiene supplies. With the funds raised, we were able to provide soap to six different facilities, ensuring that they have the necessary resources to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. The drive has raised over $34,000, a significant amount that highlights the community-wide effort and dedication to this cause. The donations collected were used to purchase the soap and cover any additional logistical expenses involved in distributing the supplies to the facilities.
The soap provided will help improve the living conditions of many individuals, contributing to better health and well-being. The facilities that received the soap include the Bishop Dudley House, Bishop Dudley Family Center, Union Gospel Mission (men’s and women’s) Union Gospel Family Center, St. Francis House and other non-profit organizations that serve vulnerable populations. By ensuring these facilities have adequate hygiene supplies, we are helping to create a safer and healthier environment for everyone. Having clean clothing is a basic human need.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the Soap Drive and bid on items in the silent auction. Your generosity has made a significant impact, and we are proud to be part of such a compassionate and supportive Pastorate and community. The Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus will continue to organize initiatives like this to address the needs of our community and promote the values of charity, unity, and fraternity. Together, we are making a difference and will continue to support those who need it most.
